Hey Guys!!
Life Lately:
So life lately has been great, don't have any complaints. I would appreciate less papers and tests, but I guess that is just the life of a college student. Better enjoy it while I can! My teammates (family away from home) and I have actually been able to have a life because we only have 3 hour softball practices twice a week now. :) And it is AWESOME! Two weekends ago I went on a trip to Mississippi to see my KBFF Lynn. It was a blast! I love the southern tradition there, and would love to possibly get my masters at D-1 school in one of the southern states. Last summer I was so nervous about working away from home for two months, but I went because I felt that it was what God wanted. And man did He bless me. I made AMAZING friends! Friends that I keep in touch with often, and who will be my friends forever. It is such a blessing to have Godly friends I can turn to when I need encouragement.
Really?
So... I am not going to lie; I am a tad annoyed right now... Earlier today my roomie’s boyfriend received a message on facebook from a girl he does not know... You are probably thinking what's the big deal? Well her flipping profile picture was of her completely naked... Now this ticks me off because here this guy is trying to live a Godly life and not fall into temptation and he receives a picture of a naked woman. Why are we making it harder for guys who actually have good morals? The world makes it hard enough, so why make it harder? You can tell I am annoyed now, but I got really annoyed when I logged into facebook and received the same message. Really right now? I know this is probably just some sick joke from a kid at our school, but what is the purpose of it? It is just rude. I know that for many this won’t seem like a big deal because there are pictures of naked ladies everywhere, which I will not share my opinion today because I want to get to sleep at a decent hour. But I just want to challenge you guys to respect the opposite sex. Even if you do not have the same beliefs about purity, be respectful enough to honor that, and not make it more difficult for those who believe in it. We need all the good guys we can get in this world.
Something on my mind:
Sometimes I really struggle with seeing people the way God see’s them. Lately, it has been in my prayers that I will see people the way God wants me to. I can think of a few people in particular that I really struggle with when it comes to this. I tend to struggle with this when it comes to people who have different views than me, and act in different ways. I am learning more and more that it is not ok for me to do this. God created everyone with the exact same love. He does not treat people differently. So if I am striving to be more like Him, why do I treat people differently based on my opinions about them? If I am going to be not only the best social worker I can be, but the best Christian I can be, I need to treat EVERYONE with love, no matter how different they are from me, and no matter how different our views are. So if I ever find out who the culprit is of the nice facebook messages, I will treat them with the love and respect Christ wants me to. I might share my opinion with them… but I will do it in a respectful way J ha!
Ending thought:
Lately in the news we have heard about several teen suicides. This breaks my heart, and really instills the passion of working with teens in my heart even more. Teens are killing themselves because the bullying they receive is too much. That’s ridiculous. People do not deserve to be tormented because they are different. So I am saying to you and to me, let’s keep our eyes out for bulling. Say hi to the person you pass in the hall, ask how the clerk at Wal-Mart they are doing. It could mean the world to them. Let’s keep an eye out for one another, oh what a better world this would be if we all did that.
Shoutout:
When I think about my college experience there are three important names that come to mind: Maria Mckinny, Kari Tall-Domingos, and Kaitlyn Hasty. These three girls are my BEAUTIFUL roomies that I love. Life would not be the same without them, and my heart already breaks at the thought of us all not living together after college.
The shout out this week goes to KAITLYN HASTY! Without her, moments in the room would be duller. Not only is Kaitlyn my official paper editor and pitcher, she is one of my best friends. With Kaitlyn I can say anything and know she has my back. If I get ticked about something, she is the first person I rant to because she will get ticked with me! Kaitlyn is a beautiful woman of God, who is daily trying to grow in her relationship with Him. She is one of the funniest people I know, and is who I blame for going to bed an hour after I lay down because she keeps making me laugh. If you do not know Kaitlyn Hasty I urge you to get to know her! She is the bomb! FO REAL! So run and tell that Kaitlyn!
